Noteworthy:
The Made Up Musical

Noteworthy is a group of talented performers who devise a brand new, one-act musical right in front of your eyes, inspired by audience suggestions!

Whether you love or loathe musicals, there's something for everyone as this charismatic bunch serve up crazy characters, silly storylines and inexplicably catchy tunes.

No script, no score, no problem!

The Company

Noteworthy is a rag-tag bunch of improvisers hailing from across the Midlands, plus their tame pianist Geddes.

Nat

Nat is an actor, singer and voiceover artist, with a background in clowning too. In addition to Noteworthy, she performs improv regularly with Birmingham’s Box of Frogs, and not-so-regularly with Leicester’s The Same Faces.

Rob

Rob is an actor, songwriter, guitar teacher, filmmaker, podcaster, drama facilitator and all-round creative powerhouse. He's the founder of Improv Wolves, which also features Emma.

Jacky

Jacky’s background as an actor and musical stand-up comedian serves her very well in Noteworthy! She’s also a member of Birmingham’s longest-running improv group, Box of Frogs.

Dave

Dave is based in Gloucestershire where he leads science workshops for kids, and performs with the improv groups Comic Sans Script and Not A Cult. He’s found a love for musical improv in Noteworthy (and also loves a bit of swing dancing).

Katie

A musical improv veteran, Katie also performs regularly with Box of Frogs and at the Crescent Theatre, in shows where she has to learn actual lines. Ew.

Emma

Emma is a much in-demand improviser in West Mids groups Improv Wolves, Breakfast of Champions and Behind The Headlines. In her spare time she’s a doctor.

Geddes

Last, but certainly not least is our marvellous Geddes – maths teacher by trade, but one of the finest improv musicians you’ll ever hear. He plays for Box of Frogs too… don’t tell them we stole him!

Show Format

We can perform a one-act musical between 20 minutes and 50 minutes in length.

We usually ask the audience to suggest the title of the show, and the setting of our opening number.

We generally perform with five to seven players, plus our wonderful pianist (yes, he really does make everything up on the spot!)

We can also perform our own special brand of “short-form” improvised comedy (think Whose Line Is It Anyway) to create a full evening’s entertainment with interval.

Our short form set might include an improvised blues, a country duet, a singing therapist and their clients or an all-singing Dragon’s Den pitch – and each song or skit is led by audience suggestions!

Reviews

A selection of reviews from our 2025 run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival:

" I just don't know how they do it! An hour-long musical with a gripping multi-faceted story, hilarious characters and catchy musical numbers that could easily pass for having been written and rehearsed. Lots of laughs all the way through and well worth seeing if you're a fan of improv, musicals or just fun in general. "
- Ben Coleman

" Absolutely fantastic. The cast are truly masters at what they do, with their effortless snappy witty, memorable dialogue and singing and set pieces. I had lots of belly laughs. Fantastic sensational keyboard music setting the tone of the scenes. I would recommend this show to anyone. I was fortunate to watch 4 of their marvellous shows. "
- Vahid Shahadi
